Ice by Lauren Carr

Over the next few days I'll be sharing the four books in the Chris Matheson Cold Cases Mystery series with you. I was introduced to the series as part of iRead Books Tour and I'm so glad I found them. The first book, Ice, was published in 2018. If you have KindleUnlimited the book is free to read. Check out the giveaway at the bottom of the post.

About the Book:
When Sandy Lipton and her unborn child disappeared, the court of public opinion found young Chris Matheson guilty. Decades later, the retired FBI agent returns home to discover that the cloud of suspicion cast over him and his family has never lifted.

With the help of a team of fellow retired law enforcement officers, each a specialist in their own field of investigation, Chris Matheson starts chipping away at the ice on this cold case to uncover what had happened to Sandy and her baby and the clues are getting hot!

Review:
This is a series that you won't want to put down. I plan to binge read the series because I enjoyed this book so much! Chris is a widowed retired FBI agent with 3 children. In this book Chris faces a case from his past where he was the prime suspect. Chris connects with the "Geezer Squad" which is a group of retired law enforcement who pretend they are in a book club when they are really solving crimes. I couldn't help but to love the Geezer Squad. A group of older people say some pretty funny things!

What I loved about this book was the mixture of crime and detective work. You are introduced to characters that you will meet in future stories. His children were not a large part of the story but I can see them playing a bigger part in a future book. A great detective novel!
