The Real Mrs. Tobias by Sally Koslow

Image
The Real Mrs. Tobias is the latest book by Sally Koslow. It was published earlier this month and has a 4.7 out of 5 star review on Amazon. The book has received praise from Lisa Barr, USA Bestselling author of Woman on Fire , Christina Baker Kline, New York Times Bestselling author of The Orphan Train among others, and many others. I’m excited to bring you this book as part of BiblioLifestyleTours here and on my Instagram @Catreader18.   A sharply funny and big-hearted multi-generational story about the deeply complicated relationships between mothers- and daughters-in-law, told through three women who marry into the same family, a treat for fans of  The Nest  and  Fleischmann Is in Trouble.   It’s 2015 in New York City, and three women all known as Mrs. Tobias—Veronika, the matriarch, her daughter-in-law Mel, and Mel’s daughter-in-law Birdie—are trying to navigate personal difficulties, some of which are with one another. Veronika and Mel, despite having little in common, ar

From My Cold Dead Hands by Hilly Barmby

I’m so excited to kick off the tour for From My Cold Dead Hands by Hilly Barmby with Zooloo Book Tours. This tour will go from today through October 3 rd . The best thing about being on book tours is getting to know new authors and introducing them to you, my readers. I hope you enjoy todays book! Can a woman who has lost her memory piece together the truth about her family, her life, and a friend’s murder? After waking up with amnesia in hospital, Cassie returns home to a life she doesn’t recognize. She gradually learns that dodgy associations from her old life have left her estranged from her husband and alienated from her children. Cassie no longer wants to be the person she was before—but breaking away from her past and from her wealthy family is not so simple. Meanwhile, she still suffers confusion and experiences nightmares about an unknown man, while hearing from her friend Marcie that she had been having an affair. When the police dismiss her after she receives a frighteni

A Lion in the Grass by Mark Zvonkovic

Image
To start of this week I have the start of a three book series that I will be highlighting over the next month along with iReadBookTours. When I received this series in the mail, I was thrilled! Book Description: Set over the course of six decades,  A Lion in the Grass  documents the despair and hope of a spy who suffers the murder of friends and enjoys the success of mentoring protégés. The story is told through alternative viewpoints of Raymond, his protégés, and the French villain. The novel digs deeply into questions of love, self-doubt and hatred, all foisted upon Raymond during a career from which, he discovers, it is impossible to retire. Review: The first thing that I noticed was the cover. You may think this is obvious but look close at the title. The O in lion adds a great detail to the cover. The book is just over 300 pages and spans six decades so it makes sense there are time jumps. Raymond (the main character) is an OSS agent in the war. He tells most of the story although

The Stolen Child by Emily Shiner

Image
I'm on tour with Zooloo’s Book Tours with The Stolen Child by Emily Shiner. It's a book I've seen a lot of on social media and for good reason. This is a great read with a striking cover. This book is a warning about putting too much of your "perfect" life on social media.  Eliza is a stay at home mommy blogger who showcases her perfect family, house, and personal style, who is growing her fan base and starting to get sponsors. She also has a secret she will do anything to protect. Bethany follows Eliza's blog and social media and even though she is single, works in a bar, and does not dress the best, she is convinced they are exactly alike and Bethany wants to be Eliza's best friend. Bethany setups casual 'meet ups' where she knows Eliza will be. The story is told in dual POV, one from Eliza and one from Bethany, so the reader can clearly understand what each woman is thinking. Eliza is horrified at the thought of having Bethany as her friend but

Someone's Watching Me by Zoe Rosi

Image
Rachel’s Random Resources has another amazing tour that I’m happy to be a part of. Someone's Watching Me is Zoe Rosi's second thriller and is available now. Review: Becky's life is going well. She's living with her handsome boyfriend, Alex, and has a successful job as a real estate agent. But Becky can’t shake the feeling that she is being watched. Strange things happen at work such as getting stood up for an open house and locked out of the same house. Her new neighbor, Max, blasts loud music at all hours and is generally creepy. Alex thinks Becky is over reacting to Max but Becky has a funny feeling.  The first thing that captured my attention was the cover. It is a beautiful cover with the dark colors and the yellows as lights in windows and in the title. This book is a quick read that I was able to read in one afternoon. My favorite part was the unpredictability of the book. I never knew what was going to come next. I didn’t solve the ‘who’ until the very end.

The Means by Amy Fusselman

Image
I have a debut novel for your enjoyment today! The Means is a story of a family whose dream it is to own a Hamptons beach house. Thank you to BiblioLifestyle Book Tours and the publisher for including me on this tour. Shelly Means, a wealthy stay-at-home mom and disgraced former PTA president, is poised to get the one thing in life she really wants: a beach house in the Hamptons. Who would have guessed that Shelly, the product of frugal Midwesterners, or her husband George, an unrepentant thrift shopper, would ever be living among such swells? But Shelly believes it’s possible. It might be a very small house, and it might be in the least-fancy part of the Hamptons. But Shelly has a vision board, an architect, and a plan.  But what should be a simple real estate transaction quickly goes awry as Shelly’s new neighbors disapprove of her proposed shipping container house at the same time that George’s lucrative work as a VoiceOver artist dries up. But Shelly is dogged. She knows how t

The Turkey Shed Gang by Ruth Young

Image
Welcome to my stop on Zooloo’s Book Tours for The Turkey Shed Gang .  I’m always looking for books to read with my kids and I thought this would the perfect one. Joe had a bad day at school. Everything went wrong… FIRSTLY, he had to read to the class and that was his worst nightmare, reading in front of everyone. THEN, he scored an own goal in football. LATER, after eating three chocolate eclairs at Gran’s house, she tells him about a raid in the bank this morning. The robbers had guns and monster masks! To Joe it sounded exciting, if only he could have been there too! But his opinion soon changes when he realises the danger his Gran is now faced with. She shows him a bag full of money that she picked up by mistake, thinking it was her shopping after the raid. Joe decides the only thing to do to keep her safe is for them to go on the run. They must go before the police come to arrest her or worse still, the robbers find out she has their money. To add to his problems, Gran wants to

Lies in Bone by Natalie Symons

Image
Lies in Bone is Natalie Symons's debut book and what a debut! The book was published about a year ago and has won numerous awards such as the 2021 Best Book Award from American Book Fest and The Eric Hoffer Literary Award. Thanks to KatieandBreyPA for the chance to be on the tour for this book. First it is a beautiful book that catches your eye. You wonder why is the cover a little foggy and who are the two girls? As a child Chuck lost his brother, Danny. while trick or treating, and Danny has never been found. Now Chuck moves his two daughters back to his hometown and Frank, Chuck's teenage daughter, has to deal with her family's past and keep her sister save while her father is drinking. I'm so excited this is a debut because it means that more amazing books will be coming from Natalie Symons. This book is told with Frank as the main character and her life is not the ideal teenage life. Her mother left them, her father is an employed drunk, and her grandmother, altho

Under The Cloud by B.R. Erlank

Image
Today is my stop on Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour for Under The Cloud . They call themselves The Settlement Bureau. A faceless, soulless organization coercing Americans with threats to expose their improprieties and vulnerabilities. Yet, the abuse of his personal information stirs Terry out of his lethargy and he fights back. He embarks on a digital game of cat-and-mouse with the cold, calculating minds behind The Settlement Bureau – and in doing so, uncovers a sprawling criminal conspiracy. Review: This book was not what I was expected but it didn't stop me from loving it. It is 374 pages and I love a good sized book sometimes. It is told by multiple narrators giving me a broade

A Perfect Discovery by Margaret Amatt

Image
A Perfect Discovery was published in August and I’m on tour with Rachel’s Random Resources to celebrate this book. If you are on Kindle Unlimited, it is free to read! I hope you enjoy this interview with Margaret Amatt about this book and her writing. Q. This is book 9 out of a 10 book series. Should you read the books in order or are they standalone? A. The books in the series can all be read as standalones. They all tie up the story and have no cliffhangers. The series has recurring characters and if you want to follow their stories in the correct order then it’s best to start at book one. Q. Will you write more books in the series? A. I have one further book planned for this series which is a Christmas book due out in October. After that, I’m saying goodbye to this series and moving on to a new one. Q. Where do your ideas come from for your books? A. I draw inspiration from so many things – places, people, photographs, other books, TV shows, stories in magazines and socia

The Forgotten Promise by Paula Greenlees

Image
Today is my stop on Zooloos Book Tours for The Forgotten Promise . Malaya, 1920: Two girls make a promise in the shadows of the jungle. A promise that life won't let them easily keep. Malaya, 1941: Ella is running her late father's tin mine in the Kledang hills, while Noor works as her cook. When the war that felt so far away suddenly arrives on their doorstep, Ella is torn apart from her family. Her daughter Grace is left in Noor's care as Japanese soldiers seize the mine. Ella is forced to make an impossible choice that takes her to England, thousands of miles from home. She is desperate to be reunited with her loved ones. But will the life she returns to be anything like the life she left behind? Review: WWII historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. This story is told in Malaysia and England, which is an area of the war I knew little about. WWII impacted everywhere, not just in Europe. First I must say I love this cover. It has beautiful colors and made
