Take My Husband by Ellen Meister

Image
Take My Husband just released yesterday and I’m so excited to be on tour with the publisher for this book. The idea behind this book is so interesting. What would you do if you thought your spouse had died and you were free from an unhappy marriage, only to find out they are still alive. Review: Laurel is unhappy in her marriage. When she gets a call that her husband is in the hospital after a car accident, she fantasizes about life without him on the way to the hospital. When she finds out he is fine, she can’t shake her thoughts. It is hard to say anything else without spoiling the book but it is one you will enjoy. The characters are frustrating at times and have you rooting for them at other times. It is described as a dark comedy and I agree. Author Interview: What inspired this book? We were several months into the pandemic and I was hard at work on another novel, when my husband burst into my office without knocking to tell me he’d heard a rumor that a toilet paper shi

Saving the Seas for the Purple and Green by Nancy Carlisle

Image
Saving the Seas for the Purple and Green is the story of a girl running along the ocean when she discovers garbage interfering with the wildlife. She wants to learn more about it and how she can help. This is a perfect book to learn about the ocean and protecting our natural resources. It is a mix of fiction and non-fiction which is wonderful for young children. The illustrations are beautiful and so is the story. I wanted to learn more about the author and this book.   Author Interview Q. Did you see a bit of yourself in Violet because you and she are both environmentalists? A. Yes, although I don’t run, I love walking along the beach and tidepooling.  On vacations, this is one of my favorite activities, just observing what is in tidepools and watching the ocean. I also do all I can to substitute other products for single use plastics and trying to minimize my own plastic waste. Q. What children’s book authors inspire you? A. Lynne Cherry, maybe best known for “The Great

Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi with no idea where she is or how she got there. She is dropped off at her apartment, but is confronted by a stranger who claims to live there. Confused, she reaches for her phone to call for help – only to find that in its place is a bloodstained knife. That’s when she sees that her hands are covered in scribbles repeating the same two words: STAY AWAKE. Last she recalls, Liv was a successful writer for a New York magazine. Now, she’s lost and disoriented in the city. She is horrified to see news reports of a crime scene where the victim’s blood has been used to scrawl a message: the same message that’s

Switchboard Soldiers by Jennifer Chiarerini

Thank you to  BiblioLifestyle  Book Tours for including me on the book tour for Switchboard Soldiers. I was so happy when my copy came in the mail! I love the cover showing the spirit of the women. If you want to preview the book you can go to the author's website listed below and read the first chapter. Blurb In June 1917, General John Pershing arrived in France to establish American forces in Europe. He immediately found himself unable to communicate with troops in the field. Pershing needed operators who could swiftly and accurately connect multiple calls, speak fluent French and English, remain steady under fire, and be utterly discreet, since the calls often conveyed classified information. At the time, nearly all well-trained American telephone operators were women—but women were not permitted to enlist, or even to vote in most states. Nevertheless, the U.S. Army Signal Corps promptly began recruiting them. Review: The book was published on July 12th and already has over 100

The Practical M.B.A on Economics by Joseph Gulesserian

Image
One of my majors in college is Economics so when I saw this book come up for tour I jumped at the chance. I know economics is not the most thrilling topic for most people but it is a very important topic to understand. This book is not a quick read at 527 pages but if you want to read about economic events in everyday terms, it is worth the read. This book includes examples from as recent as May 2022, so it is very relevant. The author covers general topics as well as specific events such as the Great Depression and the Great Recession. It is broken into clear sections so if you are not interested in a topic, you can easily skip to what does interest you. Keep reading for the book description and don’t let the length of the book scare you away. It is a very interesting book. The author does express his personal opinions on some topics but there is enough information that you can form your own opinion as well. Stay tuned for a giveaway at the bottom of the post! Embittered by his loss, Jack soon sets out to punish the depraved and eradicate the sinners from the world. The greedy killed his wife, and now they must pay. But how far is Jack willing to go to fulfil God’s plan—and how many innocent people will die?   Review: The book opens with the death of Jack’s wife, Elsie.

The Other Girlfriend by Alex Stone

Image
My second tour with Rachel’s Random Resource's is a thrilling book by Alex Stone, The Other Girlfriend. The cover alone was enough to draw me into this book! She loves him… Lizzie Green once loved Tom Murphy with a passion that bordered on obsession. All she wanted was his love to be returned. Then one night something terrible happened and Tom left Lizzie broken hearted. She swore she would never let him hurt her again…. She loves him not. Now, ten years later, Tom turns up on Lizzie’s doorstep still as charming as ever. Lizzie knows he still has the power to break her heart and destroy her life again. But Lizzie can’t say no to him…. Can she? Review: This is a wonderful quick read with an unexpected ending. Lizzie struggles with anxiety that stems from her past. Tom, her childhood friend, was always there for her until he wasn’t. Now Tom is back and Lizzie has to face her past. As someone who has anxiety I loved the way the author described Lizzie. Her feelings were

The Codebreaker's Secret by Sara Ackerman

Image
USA Today bestselling author Sara Ackerman’s newest book is available tomorrow. The Codebreaker’s Secret is a dual timeline historical fiction book set in Hawaii. It is set in 1943, just after Pearl Harbor and in 1965 when a journalist investigates a story. Please keep reading for an excerpt of this wonderful book. I love historical fiction and dual timelines so this book is perfect for me! 2 THE CODEBREAKER Washington, DC, September 1942 There was perhaps no more tedious work in the world. Sitting at a desk all day staring at numbers or letters and looking for patterns. Taking notes and making charts. Thinking until your brain ached. For days and weeks and years on end. The extreme concentration drove ome to the bottle, others to madness, and yet others to a quiet greatness that less than ten people in the world might ever know about. You might work for a year on cracking a particular code, only to have nothing to show for it but a tic in your eye and a boil on the back of your thig
