True Courage by Kathryn Barrett

Today I have a tour with Rachel’s Random Resources for True Courage by Kathryn Barrett. I'm happy to help wrap up this amazing tour. Please check out the other tour hosts for their opinions about the book. Some days it was hell being leader of the free world. The Washington press calls him the “accidental president.” As a Medal of Honor recipient and national hero, Adam Dybik agreed to run for president during the country’s deepest crisis. Now that things have stabilized, he’s got problems at home: his 14-year-old daughter Katie keeps ditching her Secret Service protection and reminding him he’s the world’s worst father. And on top of that, he’s begun hearing the voices of dead presidents. Either he’s going mad, or the White House is haunted. As the new head of Katie’s Secret Service detail, Ellie Brody is trying to live up to the high expectations of her father, former agent Frank Brody. But her new job puts her in direct danger of succumbing to the president’s charm. Can these tw

Altered Helix by Stephanie Hansen

Welcome to my stop on Rachel’s Random Resource’s book tour for Altered Helix. Read all the way to the bottom for a giveaway! I didn't want to take the traditional path. First, I wasn't ready for college. Second, I was going to live with my best friend, Tiff, and work at the Haunted House. Third, did I mention the hot guy Josh that works there too? The most exciting thing about Austria's new job, at a local haunted house, was the fact that the toughest looking people screamed the loudest. But when she meets the boy without a home, Josh, Austria's life takes intriguing and eventful turns. Up until now, Josh has managed to hang with his Street crowd, but they're in danger, and so is Austria, the girl Josh recently fell for. The group finds themselves joining forces with previously considered enemies who also now find themselves in danger. Deeply compassionate and full of twists, Altered Helix captures the struggle of polarized people that must work together for the

The Morning Of by S.B. Cody

Image
The Morning Of is a chilling story of something all too common in the US; a school shooting. 28 people are killed in a school and the shooters escape unseen. I’m honoured to kick off the tour for this book that you will have a hard time putting down. Thank you to the author, S.B. Cody, publisher, Bloodbound Books, and Love Book Tours for including me on this thrilling tour. Wow! I can’t believe this amazing book is an author’s debut. It is extremely well written and is an impossible to put down book. It is the story of a school shooting and the desperate chase to find the gunmen. The subject matter is all to common in the US where our news reports on a mass shooting almost every week. This book focuses mainly on the investigation to find the gunman, which I loved. You can’t forget the beginning of the story but it was put in the back of your mind as you tried to figure out who did it along with the characters. I was hooked from the first to the last chilling page.

Belinda by Mark Zvonkovic

Image
Today is the last stop on iReadsBookTours for Mark Zvonkovic's book series with  Belinda . Each of my stops has included a giveaway that I hope you have been entering. The link is at the bottom of the post in case you missed it earlier. This post is a little different because I have an interview with the author along with my review!   Review: I can say without a doubt that Mark Zvonkovic a talented author. Each book in this series has been different, including this legal thriller. Legal thrillers are one of my favorite genres so I was really looking forward to this book. I enjoyed the wide variety of characters and how tough Belinda was. She is being pushed to retirement because of her age but she enjoys what she does and does not want to retire. I can't say I blame her with the case she is working on! This book was a great end to this series but each book can be read as a standalone. I admire the author's wide writing ability in each book and how he tied them into a seri

The Chameleon by David Farrell

Image
Today I have a historical fiction book for you. The Chameleon is available now at your favorite book retailer and free on Kindle Unlimited. Sometimes I like to preview the book to see if it fits my taste so if you are like me, I have an excerpt for you. But first, about the book.  The Chameleon is the tale of Rorke Wilde, who grows up in Rhodesia. Rorke’s needs to mimic his pet chameleon, if he is to survive the racial discourse in a country divided by apartheid during the 1970s. Rorke’s father works in the British South Africa Police while his mother is a clerk in the tax office. His best friend and father figure is the family’s domestic worker, Themba Dube, an AmaNdebele of Zulu descent. Who guides Rorke through the turmoil of civil bias. Themba introduces Rorke to his nephew Lucky Ndlovu, who lost his parents in the AIDS pandemic and who lives with his grandmother in a squatter camp (informal settlements) in Johannesburg. The old man and boy share their experiences of a life

Wolfboy Jack and the Scissors of Doom by Lee Thomas

Image
I’m here with Love Book Tours with a wonderful children’s book, Wolfboy Jack and The Scissors of Doom . I read this book with my daughter and we both loved it. I would recommend this book primarily for ages 3-6 but older children will still love the beautiful illustrations and story. Wolfboy Jack is not scared of anything, until he grows his fur and needs a haircut. With a little help from his friends, he sees that it is ok to be scared because everyone gets scared sometimes. This is a perfect message because children need to know it is ok to be scared and not let the fear take them over. The words are written in rhyme, which will make the book even more enjoyable for younger children. I can’t say enough good things about the illustrations. They are so beautiful and add so much to the story. I think this is a great story for any child to read and enjoy!

Halloween Rescue by Tonya Flores

Image
Love Book Tours introduced me to the cutest children's series about two very special puppies, Zuko and Allie Puff. Just in time for Halloween they have a new book out. If you are not familiar with Zuko and Allie Puff, don't worry because each book can be read as a standalone or on Kindle Unlimited. Zuko and Allie Puff are puppies with special powers but they want to be like every other puppy and celebrate Halloween by going trick-or-treating. As Zuko and Allie Puff have fun they also stand by their virtues of generosity. Each book in this series focuses on building strong self character. These messages are woven perfectly in the books. After I read this book with my little, I spent some time talking about the how the puppies acted in the book and reemphasize the message. Besides the cute story and important message, the illustrations are amazing! They add so much to the story and bring it to life. The little ones in your life will love this amazingly cute book! The Adventures of Tree Fairy by Tina Ong

Image
The Adventures of Tree Fairy is a wonderful book for children about friendship, giving, helping, and fun fairy tales. I'm on tour with Brey and Katie Tours to introduce you to this book. This story is actually seven chapters, or individual stories and it it meant for children 4-8 years old. The print is big and playful and children would love reading themselves. Younger readers would enjoy being read to and all ages will love the beautiful pictures. Each chapter is 5-6 pages long on e-book. You get to meet Tree Fairy, Apple Fairy and a few friends. The author is from Singapore and has four children. During COVID she was began telling her children about the Tree Fairy and this book was created! I love the book and the story behind the book. If you know of a little one that loves fairies, they will love this book!

The Narrows by Mark Zvonkovic

Image
Welcome to my thoughts on the second book by Mark Zvonkovic in his Raymond Hatcher Stories series. This story, told in the 1970’s, is the second book in the series but the first book the author wrote. It was originally published under a different name but after writing A Lion in the Grass, book one in the series, the author came back to it and turned it into the book he wanted. Junior high school teacher Larry Brown knows his cousin is in a cult and wants to rescue him. Larry has a lot going on in his life, which covers most of the first half of the book. Larry plans to take his cousin, and another member of the cult, to his family vacation home called The Narrows (hence the book title).  This psychological thriller takes place over 10 days and is not what you normally expect from a psychological thriller these days. For me, the first half of the book was a little slow on the action but it was great for character development. I love the author’s note at the beginning where he explains
