Angels of the Resistance by Noelle Salazar

Image
A big Thank You to MIRA Books for inviting me on the blog tour for Angles of Resistance: A WWII Novel. This book is just published and ready to be read! Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres and I love finding books about this time in our history that highlight the lessor known history. I have an exclusive expert for you today and I hope you enjoy! Excerpt: Haarlem, Netherlands April 1940 Sunlight dappled through the green leaves, scattering golden light across the blanket where I sat, my back against the trunk of a tall birch tree, while I kept watch over the Aberman children. The rain that had kept me up the night before, pummeling the roof above the third floor bedroom I shared with my older sister, scented the air with the smell of damp grass, stone, and bark. I breathed in, soothed by its familiarity, and yawned, my eyes blurring with exhaustion as I tried to stay present. Too many late nights and early mornings were beginning to take their toll, and the clatter

Review : An amazingly cute book about a boy trying to name his new puppy. He wants to find the perfect name but nothing seems to fit. The target audience is ages 3-7 and I think it’s perfect. The book is easy to read to a child or with them. The pictures are very well drawn and fit the story perfectly. Enjoy reading!! Author Interview: Q: What made you write a book about Pineapple? A: When I heard the story from Kevin, Pineapple’s owner, about how he came up with her name, I fell in love with the tale! I loved everything about it! I could visualize the story in my head and thought it would be such a fun book for parents to read to their children. That it’s based on a true story, makes it even more special! Q: Have you always wanted to write a children’s book? A: When my daughter was young and I used to read to her every night, I

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. I read a lot of WWII historical fiction but wanted to share with you another time period, 395 AD. 21% Monster by P. J. Canning

Image
On tour today is 21% Monster by P.J. Canning. When this came up for tour with Love Books Tours as a middle grade book for fans of Percy Jackson, I raised my hand immediately. My son loves Percy Jackson so I thought it would be a good book to read with him. The fact that it is published by Usborne books is an added bonus. This is the first book in a series and I'm excited to read the next book. About the book: When Darren Devlin is arrested for destroying his school with his bare hands, it's not just the police who are after him. Enter Marek Masters, 14 years old, 19% alien, and the most intelligent, most wanted "almost human" alive. Marek is here to tell Darren the truth - he is 21% monster, and together they must take down the secret organisation that created them.   Review: Darren does not fit in at school. The Will by Rebecca Reid

Image
Happy Friday! Today I’m on tour with The Will with Random Things Tours. This is the first book I’ve read by Rebecca Reid. I’m so grateful to be part of book tours because I get to know authors and books that I would not normally have found. The Mordaunts aren't like most families… For one, their family home is Roxborough Hall - a magnificent, centuries-old mansion in the Norfolk countryside. For another, the house isn't passed down from parent to child - but rather to the family member deemed most worthy. Cecily Mordaunt is dead. On the evening of her funeral, her family will gather for dinner and each will be given a letter, revealing who is the next custodian of Roxborough Hall. The house is a burden, a millstone, a full-time job…but they all want it. And some are willing do anything to get it. One family. Eight letters. Who will get what they deserve? Review: A house that has been in the same family for generations is passed on when the current owner dies via le

The Orphans of Berlin by Jina Bacarr

Image
As you know, I love WWII historical fiction. As part of Rachel’s Random Resources, I have a book just at the start of WWII. I enjoyed this story about a part of WWII that I was not aware of. A heartbreaking World War 2 novel that tells the story of two women’s fight for love, family and hope, as the world crumbles around them. Based on the true story of the Kindertransport rescue from Nazi-occupied Europe. Berlin, 1936. The Landau family are at the heart of their community, running a music shop in Berlin and just trying to survive. But their lives are unravelling as Hitler's power increases and the treatment of Jewish families deteriorates. Eldest daughter, Rachel, fears for her sisters' future and will do anything she can to keep them safe. Will she find hope in the darkness? Paris, 1936. As whispers of war travel over from Europe, American debutante Kay escapes her mother's grasp and travels as a reluctant spy from Paris to Berlin. But a chance meeting with the Landau

Dig it, Digby by Jodie Parachini

Image
Digby and the Construction Crew is a book series by Jodie Parachini and illustrated by John Joven. If your little ones love books about trucks this book will be a hit! Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for including me on this tour. Although Digby enjoys building cities with his fellow trucks, he also loves to twirl and groove. Being true to both aspects of his personality will really shake things up at the construction site. The foreman may be gruff and scary, but dancing trucks can really get the job done! Review: Dig It, Digby is about Digby, a construction tractor. He knows the work he is doing is important but finds it boring doing the same thing day after day. He decides to add some fun by dancing and soon has all the other construction vehicles dancing with him. What I loved about this book is it teaches children they can turn something they find boring into fun. We can’t always do fun things but we can make anything fun. I see this as a great lesson for school

Forget Me Not by Miranda Rijks

Image
Along with Zooloo’s Book Tours, today I have Miranda Rijks’ new book, Forget Me Not . The cover definitely caught my attention! Five years ago, Helen lost her husband. Now she may lose her life. Five years ago, Helen’s husband Paul went missing while skiing in the Swiss Alps. His body was never found, but he is presumed dead because no-one could have survived a night on that freezing mountainside. It took Helen a long time to get over her loss, but now she has pulled her life back together – she is an acclaimed interior designer in a loving relationship with a new man. Even better, Helen has just been offered her dream project, renovating a luxurious chalet in an idyllic location. There’s only one catch – it’s right next to the resort where Paul went missing. She decides to take the job anyway, convincing herself that a visit to the scene of her great tragedy will actually be good for her, that it will give her a chance to lay old demons to rest. But soon after she arrives, she m
