The Good Son by Jacquelyn Mitchard

Image
Happy New Year's Eve! If you are a fan of Jodi Picoult as I am, I have the next great read for you. Imagine your son is convicted of killing his girlfriend, even though he does not remember it. When he’s released from prison after only a few years you want to help him move on. However society and even their own family does not think justice was served. I’m bringing you this book before the January 18 th publication date courtesy of the publisher. I hope you enjoy hearing my thoughts of the book and a Q&A with Jacquelyn Mitchard. Review When I first saw the cover it did not capture my attention as it is not my normal type of book. Once I read the back over I wanted to give it a try. The book is told by Thea and it focuses on after Stefan is released from prison. I imagine it would be difficult as a convicted felon to return to life. Stefan wants to make a positive impact and Thea is determined to help him. I enjoyed the book and how it dig into different issues. This book tau

The Sorority Murder by Allison Brennan

Image
Happy Publication Day to Allison Brennan and her book, The Sorority Murder. This is the first in a series. When I saw an available blog tour for this book, I jumped on it. The cover catches your eye. The story closely follows. Candace Swain was killed after a sorority party and her body was found a week later. The murder was never solved. Fast forward three years and Lucas Vega is looking into Candace’s murder for his podcast. Can he solve the murder? Review This story is set on a college campus in Arizona. The sorority involved closes ranks and refuses to help with podcast. However some of the members want to help and find ways to reach out to Lucas. Lucas also gains the help of an ex-US Marshal who is also the former sheriff's daughter. This combination gives the duo access to information and how to find information. I was hooked from the very beginning of the book. As I read more the more complex the case is and by complex I mean more people are involved than you would think.

My Darling Husband by Kimberly Belle

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season with family and good books! Today I want to share about Kimberly Belle’s newest book, My Darling Husband . The print release has been delayed to March but you can read the book on digital formats starting today.  I have great appreciation to Park Row Books for providing me an ARC and the chance to be part of the blog tour for this amazing book. Keep reading for my thoughts on the book and a Q&A with Kimberly Belle.  My Darling Husband is a story about Jade, Cam, and their children Beatrix and Baxter (the Bees as their parents call them). The book opens with a total loss fire at Cam’s most successful steakhouse. While he is dealing with that a stranger breaks into his house and holds Jade and the Bees captive. His demand is a very specific amount of money which Cam has until 7pm that day to bring to the house or the stranger will kill Jade and the Bees. Talk about a great setup to a suspense novel! The story is told from

The Drowning Girls by Lisa Regan

Image
Lisa Regan’s 13th book in the Josie Quinn series is a wonderful book. Not only is the cover beautiful but the action keeps coming. You will want to check out this book and all the other beautiful covers in this series. Wow! This is my first book in Josie’s series and I was nervous I would be left behind since it is book 13. I was told it’s best to read this series in order. I may have missed some things but the book gave enough background that I didn’t feel I was missing anything.  I absolutely loved this book. It was filled with action and mystery. When I thought the case was solved, something else came up and there was more to be solved. It was action packed to the very end. I’ve already purchased earlier books in the series and can’t wait to read them.

Winging It by Emma Murray

Image
Emma Murray’s newest book is the third book starring Saorise. The first two books have 4.5/5 star reviews on Amazon. I’ve been reading thrillers recently and this book was a nice change of pace. I love lighthearted stories with feel good endings and this one fits the bill. Be ready to add to your TBR pile! Book back cover When her husband David announces he’s been offered a job in New York, Saoirse is thrilled. The glamour of the big city, the shopping, the culture, not to mention the free Manhattan apartment and business class air fare – what’s not to like? There’s just the small matter of making it work for their daughter, five-year-old Anna, who isn’t so keen to leave her friends and school behind. The Big Apple in the middle of summer isn’t quite the holiday Saoirse envisaged, and with David away with work, New York apartment sizes on the miniscule side, and the pace of life faster than the sleepy London suburbs, solo ex-pat parenting pushes Saoirse to her limits. And as the

Happy Tuesday! Today is a big publiciation day with a LOT of books being released. I wanted to share with you a book I was thrilled to read when the publisher contacted me. Thank you to Bookouture for providing an advanced copy for my thoughts. The Island We Left Behind is the fourth book in the Amherst Island Series. This series follows Ellen, a once-orphan girl from Amherst Island in the 1920's as she follows her dreams. The series was originally meant to the a trilogy but I'm glad another book was added. This story is ten years after the last book and Ellen and her husband Lucas live in New York City. Lucas is a successful businessman and Ellen takes care of their two children. Their youngest son, Jamie, suffers from lung issues and the cold in New York City is not good for him. The doctor recommended he spend the winter in a warmer climate. Lucas could not get away from work but Ellen, her children and Gracie, Ellen's cousin, move to California for three months. This b

Nanny Dearest by Flora Collins

Image
I hope everyone in the US is enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend filled with family, food, and relaxation. If you are scouring for Black Friday deals you should know that November 30th is a big pub day for many books including a debut novel -  Nanny Dearest  by Flora Collins. Nanny Dearest is a twisted story of Sue and her childhood nanny Anneliese. Sue lost her mother when she was three and her father very recently. She is withdrawing from her friends, got her boss to agree to let her work from home, basically she has no reason to leave her apartment. Then she sees Anneliese one day and is excited to get to know her again. As Sue and Anneliese reconnect secrets from the past are uncovered. The story is told both in the present and when Sue was three years old. With an extremely unreliable narrator, this story is uncovered but what you believe is the trick. In the present Anneliese is living with her sister taking care of her kids. In the past Anneliese is Sue's nanny. Nanny

Forever Home by Elysia Whisler

Image
Forever Home comes out next week on November 30 th . Courtesy of MIRA Books and Elysia Whisler I have the honor of giving you a sneak peek into this book by sharing the first chapter with you. First let me tell you about the book. Delaney is a recently retired Marine looking forward to fulfilling her dream of owning a motorcycle shop. When his fathers vintage motorcycle is stolen from the motorcycle shop, Detective Sean Callahan promises to find the bike. Will the shop puppy at the shop help both Delaney and Sean? Before we dive into the first chapter lets learn more about the book. Q: Where do you get your story ideas from? A: My stories usually start with a single scene or idea that I build around. With Rescue You I worked around the idea of how everyone (human or animal, male or female) can be either the hero or the saved in life, depending on the situation. With Forever Home, I wanted a super strong female lead to match up for my detective character from Book 1. My teen daught

Remember Me? by Amanda Rigby

Image
Remember Me? is the winning entry of two authors in a contest by publisher Boldwood for psychological thrillers. It was available in the US on November 18 th and one you will want to add to your TBR! When I noticed this book on Rachel’s Random Resources available blog tours I jumped on it. The cover, the story, everything intrigued me. Paul and Jenna are so excited to have a baby.  When they start getting communication from Paul’s ex- fiancée, their lives are turned upside down. Paul is convinced it not really her because he killed her. Did he really kill her and if so, who is tormenting them? I was very intrigued by this book. It is a great psychological thriller with many twists and turns. I’ll admit I didn’t not pick the villain until it was revealed. The characters are very different. Jenna is a lovely woman but she has no idea what world she is living in. Paul had a terrible past that drastically affects his current life and makes him question his own memory. I highly recommend

Behind Her Smile by J.A Andrews

Image
JA Andrew's fifth novel is Behind Her Smile . It is a story of a mother, Grace, who experienced a terrible car accident with her husband and two children three months ago. She has been grieving and decides that a two week vacation on a cruise is what she needs to get her life back to normal. Review As the books starts it is obvious something is wrong with Grace. People who she is going on the cruise with do not know her all the time and there are many inconsistencies with cruise ship employees. What I loved about the book was trying to figure out what is real. At one point Grace calls home to her husband and he asks who is calling and demands she stops. This is not normal behavior for a husband that sent his wife on a vacation. Chantelle is the husband's assistant at work. Prior to the accident Grace's family spends the weekend at a cabin when Chantelle shows up. Grace is convinced her husband is cheating on her with Chantelle and her appearance reaffirms that.  The main st
