Sea Without a Shore by Barb Rosenstock

Thank you for stopping by my tour spot for Sea Without a Shore with The Children’s Book Review. I received a free copy of this book in order to share my honest thoughts on this book. About the book: A single piece of seaweed buoys a fascinating ecosystem in this nonfiction picture book from award-winning creators Barb Rosenstock and Katherine Roy. From bryozoans and snails to shrimps, eels, swordfish, and whales, the Sargasso Sea provides a home to countless types of marine life, thanks to the prevalence of microalgae called sargassum. Following a single blade of this extraordinary seaweed as it grows and spreads, readers see what it provides for the sea’s organisms: a base for hydroids and tube worms to filter and feed, shelter for anemones and nudibranchs and their nutritious waste, hunting grounds for crabs and amphipods, and a source of nourishment and protection for the fish, birds, whales, and reptiles that feed on these smaller creatures. Through a widening scope on this intric

Meandering through the city was like being in the masquerade scene from Phantom of the Opera; I could almost hear the music and the words, “Masquerade… paper faces on parade…”   It forced me to buy my own mask; the costumes and masks were everywhere so I felt awkward without one. That first taste of Venice whet my appetite for more, especially since the first time was only a day trip from Milan, so I returned many mor

Dragon wants to be friends with him and invites him to play. But Sir Fiero doesn’t believe that dragons and knights can be friends—or can they? A sweet tale of friendship and challenging stereotypes. Review: This book will delight little readers with its clever words and follow along actions. Each page involves the reader by having them follow actions and react to the story. I love how the words change size to emphasize areas and how the illustrations fit

The Kelcie Murphy Series by Erika Lewis

Image
Kelcie Murphy and the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts is the first is a series of three books about a young girl who has magical powers but does not know it. A huge thank you to The Children's Book Review Tours and the author for my gifted copies of these books and a spot on this YA tour. I have a lot for you today including my thoughts on the series, a downloadable activity kit and a giveaway. Enjoy! Review: I love finding new YA series as my kids are in the YA reading age. As fans of Harry Potter, they would love this series. The books combine magic, Celtic mythology, and friendship. In the first book we are introduced to Kelcie, an orphan going on a school trip and we can tell right away something is going to happen with her. The first few chapters start the book out action packed and i was hooked right away. It has a Harry Potter vibe with a student unaware they have magical powers and reluctant to explore them. That is where the similarities end and the book takes on a life

And She Was Never the Same Again: A Multigenerational Memoir by Natasha Pryde Trujillo Ph.D.

Image
If you enjoy memoirs todays book is for you. It is an eye opening book that I think you will enjoy. "Dr. Trujillo has done an exceptional job of opening her life of grief and loss for her audience to experience. The intentional nature in which this book is written provides a welcome comfort of hope. Her words encourage her audience to look at those 'isms' we humans all own and instead of wanting to avoid seeing them, to look at them and learn how to navigate and accept; especially when it is too late to share those sentiments when you could have."   —Feathered Quill Book Reviews Book Description: And She Was Never the Same Again  is about you. It is about your family and your friends, everyone you've ever met, and all the strangers you have yet to meet. It takes you on a journey of gains and losses that stretch generations, cultures, identities, and decades of time. It awakens you to the inevitable and makes you look at things most people want to avoid seeing. It
