Annie is having a stressful time in her life. Her fiancee suddenly announces he needs time to think  and leaves for Paris for a month.  He also asks Annie not to contact him while he's gone. Annie quits her job as a chemist and starts to clean houses because her HR rep does not believe Annie was sexually harassed by her boss. She's moved in with her mother to help her mother battle depression. Then some new people come into Annie's life and they help her rethink her situation. This story in told via emails, journal entries, and a few text messages. The journal entries include conversations so it is a mix between a journal entry and traditional writing. I loved this style of writing. It tells the story completely from Annie's viewpoint and you can see what is going through her mind. While Annie has sworn off new people, she meets her new neighbor and a private investigator. They both are vital to the story and help Annie see things in a different way. They take her o...

Audrey and Clarke have been friends all their lives. Audrey is a social influencer and a rumor surfaces that she and Clarke are engaged. Audrey is mad and demands Clarke sets the record straight. But then Audrey is targeted as someone who cannot hold on to a man, Audrey and Clarke decide to let the engagement rumor keep going. Everything is going well until Audrey starts to question her feelings for Clarke. Could her feelings be more than just friends? This book is the third in a series but this is the first book I read. I was not lost in the story or feel as if I was missing anything. It can definitely be read as a stand alone book but I'm excited to read the first two books to find out more about Audrey, her friends, and Clarke. My favorite characters were Audrey and her friends, Naomi and Claire. The first chapter of the book describes how they met. Naomi and Audrey were dating the same man without knowing it and also did not know he was married to Claire. They meet at his fun...

Shay is struggling at life. She is attracted to her roommate, but he is in a relationship with someone else, someone who does not like her and wants her to move out. On her way to her temp job one day, she witnesses a women throw herself in front of a subway train and die. Shay is deeply affected and wants to learn more about this woman, Amanda. She attends Amanda's memorial service and meets some of her friends. Amanda's friends seem so nice that Shay wants to join their circle. But then things begin to take a strange turn. Hendricks and Pekkanen have produced another thrilling book. Each chapter is a new twist that slowly unravel the story. Shay witnesses a horrifying event and struggles to return to a normal life. She sees Amanda and thinks about her, wondering what led her to suicide. Shay loves data and each chapter begins with a tidbit statistic. I found these very interesting and enjoyed how they tied into the story. The book is a little confusing at the beginning as y...

First Came Us by Rachel Cullen

Ellie and Jack have everything figured out. Ellie owns a yoga studio and Jack is an economics professor at Yale. They have three kids, ranging from 16 years old to a 3rd grader. Things start coming up in their lives that draw the focus to themselves and less on their children. They must figure out how to deal with their personal surprises and continue to be parents at the same time. This book was a very quick read at a little over 300 pages. I finished it in about half a day. I don't want to give away the surprises that come up but they have the potential to change the future of the family. Jack and Ellie deal with these surprises differently but I would say in typical fashion. It was easy to see where a little more communication would have solved a lot of the issues. The story also focuses on the eldest daughter, Sydney, as she deals with typical teenage troubles. I enjoyed Sydney's character the most in the story. She is dealing with typical teenage anxieties about appearan...

Diana is a OB-GYN in the DC area who recently went through some life changes. Her grandmother passed away, her mother came to live with her and she broke up with her boyfriend after finding out he cheated. She is an excellent OB-GYN and one night on shift she makes a decision that may have saved the life of a patient but it causes a lot of trouble for her employer. Diana is put on temporary leave and while on leave she discovers something about her families past. Something that changes everything she and her mother knew about her father and sends them both halfway across the world to search for answers. I have read Tif Marcelo's previous book, The Key to Happily Ever After , and fell in love with her writing style. The stars of her books wrestle with the direction of their lives and do it in a way that is easy to sympathize with. .Diana at the beginning of the book is completely focused on work. She takes extra shifts and does everything she can to escape her non-work life. When ...

Jess has just quit her job to move to London, her dream city. She moves in her a friend and two strangers to begin her new job and new life. One of the strangers is the very handsome Alex but due to the ‘no dating roommates’ rule, Jess must ignore her feelings for Alex. It will be a very interesting year as Jess adjusts to her new life. I simply loved this book. If you are a fan of Sophie Kinsella or Josie Silver, you will fall in love with this book. It is set in London, which for me just adds to the books charm. I love stories about London as it is one of my favorite cities. The story is told mainly from Jess’s point of view but a few chapters are told from Alex’s point of view. I loved the sprinkles of Alex as he struggles through his own life change and new job. The story is a light romantic plot that keeps you engaged the entire time.  I read the book in 2 days and wished it would never end. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
