1-2-3, A Deep Breath for Me by Hillary Harper

Thank you for joining me and The Children's Book Review in partnership with Hillary Harper for the virtual book tour for 1-2-3, A Deep Breath for Me.

About the Book:

Meet Mack, the pup with emotions as big as his paws! At times, Mack finds himself overwhelmed by his feelings. His stomach is filled with butterflies, his legs grow wobbly, and he feels short of breath. Thankfully, Mack has his trusty sidekick, Gertie, to guide him through the tough times. Together, they explore ways to manage and overcome these powerful emotions.

Through Mack’s journey, children can learn breathing exercises, visualization techniques, and other self-regulation activities that can be practiced in their daily lives.

Review:

Mack is a BIG dog but he was scared of loud noises. He feels guilty that he should be strong enough to protect his family. As Mack learns in the book there are many ways to work with your feelings with his new friend Gertie. This is a great book for children to learn how to calm themselves when they are scared. One of my favorite things about the book is how certain words were in a different font and color to give the extra emphasis. I love that Mack and Gertie are real dogs and the author included pictures at the end of the book. The pictures are very cute and fit the story perfectly. This is a book you will want to read with your little one anytime but especially when they are dealing with big emotions.
