ABOUT THE BOOK:

Chipper the Fox and his Arctic friends travel to summer camp for fun in the sun! After an amazing summer, how will they stay in touch with their new friends and keep their summer adventure going?

Review:

Chipper Sends Sunshine is perfect for young readers as it is a lively story about a group a friends who meet at camp. They want to stay in touch by sending mail but something always goes wrong. A box gets a hole or snow melts in the mail. When they see each other again they come up with the perfect way to keep in touch. I loved the beautiful illustrations that brought the story to life. There are more pictures than words on the pages so a young reader just learning to read will love. This fun and imaginative book will delight any child.

Guest Post by Kimber Fox Morgan, author of Chipper Sends Sunshine

I had a pen pal growing up. Her name was Julie. She was my best friend and next-door neighbor who moved away when we were ten years old. We lived in Florida, and she first moved to France and then ended up in California, so she wasn’t close at all. We wrote letters back and forth for years. There were some phone calls and visits as well, but it was mostly letters. It was long before email, Facebook, and instant messaging. Thus, the letters were the golden tickets. I loved sending and I really loved receiving them. Our friendship has continued and grown for over 40 years, and she is still my best friend. I am so thankful that we kept in touch in those early days as I can’t imagine my life without her.

Mailing letters and cards is somewhat of a lost art, but I always feel a little excited when I receive something in the mail. In Chipper Sends Sunshine, I wanted to introduce a way to keep in touch with friends or family when you can’t be together. Chipper and his friends “MAIL A HUG” to their camp friends who live in different parts of the world. Essentially this easy craft is decorated handprints connected by ribbon to give the illusion of mailing a hug.  Who wouldn’t love to receive a hug in the mail? This is the perfect gift to send to someone who you care about. The free craft download is available on my website, www.KimberFoxMorgan.com
