Call Me Lion by Camilla Chester

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Call me Lion by Camilla Chester. This book is ideal for ages 8-12 and just published earlier this week on June 16th! This book is about a 10 year-old named Leo who dreams of preforming in the West End. He has selective mutism but when Richa, a chatty new neighbor moves in, Leo quickly finds a new friend. Richa wants to help Leo, but will he let her?

Review:

When Richa bounds into Leo's yard one day and talks and talks, Leo wants nothing more than to talk back but he can't. This does not bother Richa who can talk enough for the two of them. Richa and Leo form a friendship that is absolutely wonderful. I think this is a great book for the target audience (8-12years old) but even for a little younger. It teaches kids to accept each other as they are and to have the courage to accept yourself. This is mainly a word book and has very little pictures. If your child reads themselves they would likely want to be on the older target audience but this is a great book to read with your child. The author even included a section about Selective Mutism to further explain it. Truely wonderful!
