The Happy Family by Jackie Kabler

Welcome to my stop on The Happy Family blog tour presented by Rachel’s Random Resources! It’s the first day of the tour and I’m thrilled to bring this book to you on publication day! Jackie Kabler is a new author to me even though this is her sixth book. What drew me to this book is the plot, a long lost mother returning to her daughter just when her daughter starts having strange things happen, I also loved the beautiful cover. I hope you enjoy my stop on the tour and can visit other blogs as well over the next several days.

About the Book

A mother who disappeared…
When Beth was 10 years old, her beautiful, wild mother Alice walked out and never came back. Beth’s life since hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but now she is happy and settled, with a successful career, a loving family and a beautiful home.

An unexpected visitor…
Then one day there’s a knock at the door. Alice has returned. Overjoyed to have the chance to rebuild their relationship, Beth invites her mother to move in.

A life that comes crashing down…
At first, everything seems wonderful. But then Beth’s friends begin to drift away, strange things start to happen at home, and rumors' begin to circle about her past. As the mysterious events around Beth become darker and more dangerous, she is forced to question everything. Is somebody in her life trying to destroy her happiness? And how far will they go?

Review

Single mother Beth is haunted by an incident in her past and her mothers return brings back some of the memories. At first Beth is thrilled to see her mother but quickly Beth starts misplacing her keys, forgetting things, seeing things. She starts to question everything around her; her housekeeper and her friends and her mother aids in this by planting seeds of doubt. Beth just wants her happy family, but nothing is going right for her. This book keeps you reading as you try to figure out what is going on with Beth. You get the sense early in the book that someone is out to get her but who is the big mystery. If you like putting the clues together, you will enjoy this book!
