Brave Girl, Quiet Girl by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Brave Girl, Quite Girl is a great book. Brooke is carjacked with her young daughter, Etta, is in the backseat. She tries to chase the car but can't. The next 24 hours are a nightmare for Brooke as she waits for her daughter's return. Luckily her daughter is found by a teenage girl, Molly, who lives on the streets of Los Angeles. Molly protects Etta until she can be safety returned to her mother.

This is a complex story about relationships. It is heartwarming how Molly watches over Etta and the relationship that forms later between Molly and Brooke. Brooke does not not have a good relationship with her mother, who she lives with and this just adds to the complexity of the story. The story also highlights the struggles of living on the streets and what causes someone to have to do that.
