The GOD Game by Danny Tobey

Imagine you and your friends are asked to join a computer game called, G.O.D. If you do what the game asks, you are rewarded. If you refuse, you are punished. But its just a game, right? This is what the friends thought until things started happening in real life. How safe is this game, really?

This book is a very interesting look into AI. I didn't realize until I read the author's bio that he is a lawyer and expert on AI. The knowledge showed in the book, but it was told in easy to understand terms. I am not extremely familiar with AI, but I did not have any difficulty keeping up. The story is told from the views of a group of teenagers and it brought out very interesting questions. Without giving too much away, the teenagers are asked to preform tasks and either be rewarded or suffer the consequences. It was interesting to think what I would do if I was in the same situation.

The book is quite lengthy but don't let that deter you. It is an excellent book. It does have some strong language so be aware if a younger reader was going to read the book or if you do not like strong language. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in AI and complex/intriguing plots. I gave this book 4 stars because there is a lot going on in this book with multiple story lines and at times, it is hard to follow. It did not take me long to catch up when I was lost but I did have to make an effort to keep the characters straight.

The GOD Game will be released on 7January2020. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
