Happy publication week to Jo Bartlett on her 30th novel! a mother’s last wish will tug at your heartstrings. Along with Rachel’s Random Resources I’m so happy to bring this book to you. It is a riveting read that you won’t be able to put down.

About the Book:

Two sisters, one heartbreaking promise...

To everyone who knows them, Louisa and Tom are the perfect couple. They have two beautiful kids, Stan and Flo, and are about to celebrate ten years of being happily married. Life is perfect. But when Lou is dealt devastating news, that perfect life is turned upside down and Lou and Tom must reevaluate the very foundations their marriage is built on.

Lou’s main concern is who will look after her children if she’s not there to care for them? Will anyone be able to love them like she does?

Holly can’t face the news that Lou is sick. As her older twin sister, she and Lou have always been together, and Holly has always tried to protect Lou. So she’ll do anything, promise anything, to make Lou feel safe and happy. Holly loves Stan and Flo fiercely, but with no children of her own can she ever be the mother her sister wants and needs for her children?

Determined to make the most of every last precious moment, Lou’s final wish for her family is to show them what it really means to live and love. And as Tom and Holly try to navigate their own pain, their only care is to shower Flo and Stan with love and help them make the most of every moment together.

Book Review

A heartbreaking and heartwarming book about a mother who finds out she has an incurable cancer diagnosis. We follow the mother’s journey from diagnosis until she passes. The story has multiple POV but the mother, Lou, is the main character. Lou is terrified when she receives a deadly diagnosis and turns to her sister who survived cancer. Lou is a selfless person who thinks of others first. She is scared by her diagonals but is more scared of leaving her children and husband. She even tries to find someone to fill her space after she is gone who will take care of her children and give them everything life can offer. My favorite part of the book was how author included a chat group for terminal diagnosis individuals where Lou can turn to ask questions no one else can answer. I can’t imagine going through something like this and was hooked from the very first page.

About the Author:

Jo Bartlett was born a stone’s throw from the English Channel and still lives near the sea in Kent, with her family, so close to the South Eastern edge of England that they're very nearly French. It's probably why so many of her books are set near the sea too. Jo has made up stories for as long as she can remember, but never really took it any further, until a catalyst called cancer gave her the impetus to follow her dreams.

Since having her debut novel published in 2015, Jo has had numerous bestsellers in the UK, the USA, Australia and Canada, including a UK Top 10. Jo writes contemporary women’s fiction, with stories that focus on love, friendship, family and community. Since joining Boldwood Books in 2021, Jo has had twelve bestselling novels across The Cornish Midwife and Cornish Country Hospital series. With over 750,000 sales of her Boldwood novels, and a further 500,000 thousands sales through other publishers, in 2023 Jo celebrated one million sales worldwide and, after twenty-five years in teaching, now writes full time.
