Stranger in the Village by Kate Wells

Along with Rachel's Random Tours I have a brand new book to share with you. Stranger in the Village was published on January 30th so its hot off the press!

About the Book:

Where there’s a body in Malvern End, there are secrets to be uncovered…

Jude Gray has worked hard to bring a steady equilibrium to life on Malvern Farm and things are going well.

The only fly in the ointment is the foul addition of a new face in the village: staunch townie and chauvinistic sleaze, Des Smith. Jude has nothing but sympathy for his caring, patient wife, Loretta, who has become a regular visitor to the farm for a cup of tea and a chat.

But things take a turn for the worse when a hit and run outside The Lamb brings death once again to the village. Is it an accident or is something more sinister afoot?

Perhaps the answer lies in the stranger with red trainers who’s been seen wandering through the village and through Jude’s fields at night. Following the clues, Jude desperately hopes she will find the right answers, because the murderer being someone she knows is unfathomable…

Review:

This cozy mystery is the second in a series. I would recommend reading the series in order as this book references the first book and it sounds exciting! This book focuses just as much on the people as the mystery they are working to solve. Jude owns a sheep farm and decides to setup a glamping site in her pasture. The reader follows her in her journey and it’s a fun journey! One of my favorite parts of the book were the UK words such as gassing, bugger, and plaster to list a few. As an American I love the UK slang! The story is also very recent as it mentions King Charles. This is a great cozy mystery you can get lost in.

About the Author:

Kate grew up in Malvern on the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border and still spends much of her time there. It is her heart's home and the muse for a lot of her writing.

She began her adult life training as a nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital and then moved to Reading where she took a teaching degree.

When she took a break to have her two daughters she began creating stories and hasn't stopped writing since!

Having spent time living and working on farms she developed a love of the rural life and often dreamt of running a sheep farm, especially when she married the son of a farmer. It wasn't to be though, so instead, she lives out her farming dreams through researching and writing her books.

These days she's often found in a field talking to the sheep, or out on the Malvern Hills walking her border collie cross.
