Image
Happy Tuesday! It is the start of a new week and also pub day for many books including The Trap by Evie Hunter. Callie is having the time of her life with her job and her relationships. Then she gets a mortgage letter in the mail, which is strange because she does not have a mortgage. Her perfect man is not so perfect and Callie wants her money back. Along the way Callie meets Jack, who is perfect man’s business partner. He’s been taken as well. Can they team up to catch him? I’m happy to be part of Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour for this book. Be sure to check out the other tour stops as well! Review I was intrigued by the blurb and had to read the book. Once I started, I wanted to read until it was finished. There is action throughout the book. The book has romance, revenge, unsavory characters, love, friendship, and mystery. What more could you ask for in a book? The plot is such that you think you know what direction the book is going and then it flips you on your head, i...

A Mother's Secret by Caroline Finnerty

Image
A Mother’s Secret is a story of two families brought together by tragedy. Rowan and Aiden live in Ireland with their three children. James and Helena are newly married but struggling in their marriage. One horrible car crash brings these families together in a way they never thought possible. Rowan and James were in the car together along with Rowan’s daughter, Milly, but no one knows why. As more information comes out about the crash, even more questions are asked. What happened the morning of the car crash? Review Everyone has secrets and there can be life changing consequences when they are discovered. This story is a heartbreaking picture into two grieving families. As I was reading it was hard to imagine what these two families are going through. I emphasized with both families and am very happy with the way the story ended. Throughout the book Aiden showed extreme emotional strength and I loved this from a male character. So many times the female character has to be the emotion...

The Night She Went Missing by Kristen Bird

Image
Debut novels introduce us to new authors, new stories, and new friends. Kristen Bird’s debut novel, The Night She Went Missing is a story of privilege, patriarchy, small towns, and overcoming your past. From the book: Months after she disappeared, a high school senior is found floating in the town’s harbor, alive but unconscious. Where has Emily been, and how did she get into the water? In Kristen Bird’s “gripping” (Publishers Weekly) debut The Night She Went Missing , three friends-to-frenemies mothers in a close-knit, wealthy Texas community decide to investigate after the police hit a dead end. While each woman has secrets to protect, they’ll all be forced to look at their own children – or each other’s – to uncover the truth. With the relentless pacing and complex female characters of Big Little Lies and an expertly crafted small town setting, The Night She Went Missing introduces Kristen Bird as a new force in the world of domestic suspense. Her novel goes well beyond that, e...

Monster Max and the Marmalade Ghost by Robin Bennett

Image
Today I’m bringing you a little different book than normal. Monster Max is a series for young boys about Max, who sometimes turns into a friendly monster. This is my stop on the blog tour presented by Rachel’s Random Resources. Blurb Max and Peregrine are volunteering at an old people’s home, when strange things start to happen: one resident is walking on the ceiling; one is riding their wheelchair through walls; and Reggie says his marmalade is haunted (although no one listens). Can Max and his friends work out what’s happening to protect his family and the local community? Things aren’t looking good - the Marmalade Ghost is turning into a gloopy Godzilla, Max falls out with his (joint) best friend, and then, just when it can’t get any worse, someone kidnaps Max’s cat, Frankenstein... will they meet a sticky end? Time to ‘Protect and Do Good Stuff!’ Review Your children will love this book! This is my first Monster Max book and I thought it was hilarious. It had humor appropriate fo...
