Before We Grow old by Clare Swatman

A love story across decades. Fran met Will when she moved next door to him when she was seven years old. They were the best of friends and eventually began dating. Their childhood romance abruptly ended when Will moved. Fast forward twenty five years and Will bumps into Fran at a café and they begin talking. Twenty five years is a long time to catch up and also for secrets to be made.

This is the story Clare Swatman tells in her latest book Before We Grow Old. This is my first book by this author but it will definitely not be my last. I’m a huge fan of stories with the UK as the setting, which is the case with this book. The beautiful cover and the book description drew me in from the very start.

One one of the things I love most about it is it kept all the English (UK) language. Some books set in the UK try to ‘Americanize’ the language but this book stayed true. I loved it! I also fell in love with the story. It is told from Fran’s POV and she has a lot going on. It is a fairly quick read and a great read. I was lost in the pages and related to many of the characters. I would definitely read more by this author.
