Needles, The Forgotten Christmas Tree by Richard Wagner

Image
It is December and the holidays are near. As part of iRead Book Tours I’m sharing a wonderful holiday story today. Please check out the bottom of the post for a giveaway opportunity! Book Description: The world is not always perfect. A scraggly little tree named Needles must endure taunts, criticism, and setbacks to realize his goal of becoming a beautiful Christmas tree. This is a story of hope, dreams, desires, determination, and never giving up. It also offers the observation that what others think is beautiful may not really matter. Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder . . . and paired with the spirit of Christmas, maybe we can make the world just a little more perfect! Review: Needles is a Christmas tree not to be forgotten. He dreams of becoming someone’s perfect Christmas tree but because he is so small, many people walk by him. I loved Needles determination and his ability not to give up. This is a wonderful story for ages 4-9 to read and enjoy. The pictures are beautifu...

Happy Wednesday! Today I have a new-to-me author to share with you as part of Zooloo’s Book Tours. Behind Closed Doors was released yesterday and is an Amazon Editors’ pick in Best Mystery, Thriller & Suspense (for very good reason). I’ve said it before but one of my favorite parts of being on a book tour is that I get introduced to new authors and books and I get to share them with you. This is a book I hope you will enjoy. About the book: Two kidnappings, thirty years apart. Can Stacey face her own dark past in order to save her stepdaughter? When Stacey’s ex-husband turns up on her doorstep begging her to help save his kidnapped thirteen-year-old daughter, Lyra, the terror is all too familiar. Stacey’s own violent kidnapping thirty years ago was never solved, and while a severe case of amnesia spares her from recalling the specific horrors, she remembers enough… Stacey knows her father never paid the ransom—she has the missing pinkie finger to prove it. She knows she was on...

The Opportunist by Elyse Friedman

Image
Happy publication day to Elyse Friedman’s newest book, The Opportunist!!!! Thank to MIRA books for including me on the blog tour. I always love hearing behind the book so I have a Q&A with the author. Blurb: A deliciously sly, compulsively readable tale about greed, power and the world’s most devious family. When Alana Shropshire’s seventy-six-year-old father, Ed, starts dating Kelly, his twenty-eight-year-old nurse, a flurry of messages arrive from Alana’s brothers, urging her to help “protect Dad” from the young interloper. Alana knows that what Teddy and Martin really want to protect is their father’s fortune, and she tells them she couldn’t care less about the May–December romance. Long estranged from her privileged family, Alana, a hardworking single mom, has more important things to worry about. But when Ed and Kelly’s wedding is announced, Teddy and Martin kick into hyperdrive and persuade Alana to fly to their father’s West Coast island re...

The Family at No. 12 by Anita Waller

Image
Today is my stop on Rachel’s Random Resources tour with Boldwood Books for The Family at No. 12. When Janette answers the door to a potential customer looking to board his dog, she never imagines he has nefarious plans. But minutes later he’s dead and in her cellar. Weeks later she realises she’s pregnant. And so she becomes Mother and the baby Child, and a hidden life begins. But all secrets come out eventually . . . Review: This is the first book I’ve read from this author so I didn’t have any expectations. The cover drew me in even before I read the blurb. The dark house tells you something sinister is going on. I was intrigued and horrified at the same time. This book is broken into three time zones. The first zone deals with horrific child abuse and neglect so if these are triggers for you, this may not be a good book for you. The author did a great job setting the story up for everyone that happened. Marta is a very interesting and complex character. Overall this is ...
