The Orphan of Cemetery Hill by Hester Fox - BLOG Tour
As I said, the book being set in 1844, intrigued me. It was interesting to read about that time but using modern language. Many books set during this time use period language, which is hard for me to follow. The book is written so you can picture the events in your head as you read. The social norms and general beliefs of that time are very different than today and I enjoyed seeing those differences.
Tabby meets a young man who is at the funeral of his father. His father's body is later stolen. Then the young man's fiancee is found murdered shortly after. Tabby wants to help the young man find his father and the killer of his fiancee. I loved Tabby's spirit in this book. She is not afraid of her talent but does not make it widely known as she fears she will be seen as different.
One interesting thing I found about this book was the chapter headings. They provided a little insight into what the chapter held. I have not seen that before but loved it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries or strong female characters. The book is available everywhere on 15 September.
